The Evangelistic Association
of the East was founded by Late 'Malphono Nasiho' Very Rev. Geevarghese
Cor-Episcopa Athunkal and associates in 1924 for the spiritual and
material upliftment of Syrian Jacobite and other communities at
a time when Malankara was reeling under the Colonial rule of the
British and the First World War had cast a pall of gloom. Rev. Fr.
Mathai Arikupurath (Mannoor) became its first President who was
ably aided by a great multitude of pious and dedicated missionaries.
The founding fathers of the Association conceived that the said
organization should have Episcopal recognition and patronage besides
having a clear cut constitution. In 1933 the Valiya Thirumeni of
Aluva Late Lamented H. E. Mar Athanatius Poulose Metropolitan blessed
it with Holy Bull. The Association and its enacted constitution
was registered in 1941 at the Perumbavoor Sub-Registrar Office and
later at Calicut as per the Indian Societies Registration Act 1860.
As per the constitution in force, the E.A.E. General Committee comprising
151 members is elected by the Association members spread globally
every once in three years and the Managing Committee having 35 members
is elected from among the General Committee for a tenure of 1 year.
Isaiah 60:1 -
is the slogan of the Association.
Romans 12 : 1 -
I entreat you by compassions of God, brothers, to present YOUR bodies
a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with
YOUR power of reason
